As part of our mini-beast inquiry the Juniors went on a trip to the zoo. After being postponed on a particularly stormy day, we ended up with a beautiful day that meant we had the chance to explore the whole zoo.
We loved learning about the legless lizard that looked exactly like a snake. The children found out that this is an important adaptation to the generally defenceless lizard because most predators will be tricked into thinking he is actually a more dangerous snake. Check out our pictures to see us giving the friendly lizard a pat. The groups also had the opportunity to meet a tree weta and hear about all about their characteristics, behaviours and habitats.
Thank you to all our parent helpers who came along!!
